Import Using RSS Feed

Import Content Using RSS Feeds

RecurPost imports content from RSS feeds directly into your content library, so your scheduling queue stays full without manual uploads. As a result, agencies and freelancers can collect blog posts, news, and industry updates for their clients on a regular basis.

When you connect an RSS feed, RecurPost automatically pulls each new item from the feed and drops it into the selected content library, where it is ready for scheduling. Meanwhile, you remain in control of how and when the imported content is published. This page explains how RSS feed import works, how to connect an RSS feed, how much control you have over imported posts, and how it helps you manage curated content without relying on third-party tools.

What RSS Feed Import Does Inside RecurPost

RecurPost imports content from any public RSS URL into the content library you choose. The source can be a client’s blog, a news website, or a Google Alerts feed. When you connect the feed, RecurPost reads it and automatically adds each new post to the selected content library through the Content Curation section. As a result, the imported posts stay ready for scheduling, so you do not need to upload each article manually.

For example, if you run an agency and manage a SaaS client, you can connect that client’s product blog RSS feed once. After that, RecurPost automatically imports every new product update into the client’s content library. You can then review the imported posts and schedule them across the client’s connected social accounts.

However, RecurPost can import content only from valid public RSS or Atom feeds. If a website does not provide an RSS feed or uses a private or paywalled feed, RecurPost cannot import its content automatically. In those cases, you need to add the content manually by using another import method.

How to Connect an RSS Feed To a Client Library

RecurPost lets you connect an RSS feed to a content library in a few simple steps through the Content Curation section. First, open Libraries, select the client library you want to update, and click Content Curation. Then, paste the RSS feed URL into the feed field to connect the source.

After you add the feed, RecurPost displays a few fields for each imported post:

  • The Message field contains the post content in plain text or HTML.
  • The Media URL field stores a public image or video link.
  • The Link field, also called the Source URL, contains the original article link to credit the source.

If you want the latest content to appear first, turn on the ‘Move new posts to top of the Queue’ option before you click Add Feed. RecurPost then imports the available posts from the RSS feed for your review.

Additionally, RecurPost displays every imported post so you can approve or reject it before adding it to your content library. You can review posts individually or process multiple posts at once. If you want help creating captions, use Generate Caption with AI, and RecurPost generates a caption for the selected post. Once you approve the posts, RecurPost adds them to your content library, where they are ready for scheduling.

For instance, a freelancer managing 5 clients can connect 5 different blog feeds to 5 separate content libraries in one session. This setup keeps each client’s content organised in its own library. However, if one client publishes content from multiple sources, you can connect several RSS feeds to the same content library instead of mixing content from different clients.

Controlling What Gets Imported and How Each Post Looks

RecurPost lets you review imported content before it reaches your scheduling queue, so every post stays under your control. Instead of adding an entire RSS feed to your content library automatically, RecurPost allows you to approve or reject each imported item. Meanwhile, the Move new posts to top of the Queue option lets you place the latest content at the beginning of your scheduling queue.

For every imported post, you can write a custom Message in text or HTML, attach your own image or video through the Media URL field, and keep a Source URL for attribution. In addition, you can use Generate Caption with AI to create a caption and edit any imported post through the three-dot menu before scheduling it.

For example, an agency can import an industry news feed for a client and then rewrite every caption to match that client’s brand voice before approving the posts. As a result, RecurPost keeps the review process intentional while giving you full control over the final content. The approval step acts as a quality check instead of automatically publishing every imported article.

Therefore, RecurPost works well when you want to curate content while reviewing each post before scheduling it. However, it is not designed for fully automated publishing from an RSS feed because every imported post requires your approval before it moves to the content library.

Replacing Zapier and Manual Re-Uploads

RecurPost lets you manage RSS imports and custom content in the same content library, so you do not need a Zapier or another third-party tool just to add custom messages, images, or videos. RecurPost handles content curation, post customisation, and scheduling from one place.

For example, an agency that previously relied on Zapier to manage RSS imports can switch to RecurPost for the same workflow. As a result, the agency reduces the number of tools it manages while removing an extra subscription and integration.

RecurPost works well for RSS-based content import and scheduling workflows. However, it is not designed to replace every type of automation. If your workflow needs to trigger actions across multiple applications beyond RSS content import, you can use RecurPost’s native Zapier integration to connect those services instead of relying on RSS feeds for complex automation.

Every post that RecurPost imports moves into the same content library that feeds your schedule. As a result, content curation, review, and scheduling stay connected in a single workflow. To learn more about the complete publishing process, see how RecurPost handles social media scheduling.

Yes, RecurPost helps you maintain a consistent posting schedule by automatically importing new content from the RSS feeds you choose. As a result, your content library stays updated with fresh posts, so you can schedule content from a ready-to-use library instead of searching for new articles every week.

RecurPost saves time by automatically importing new articles from your selected RSS feeds into your content library. For example, a freelancer managing five clients can connect five different RSS feeds to five separate content libraries without opening five browser tabs.

Yes, RecurPost lets you add several RSS feeds to a single client library, so you can review each imported item before it joins the queue. As a result, you keep all of one client’s content sources together in the same library. Meanwhile, you accept only the items that are worth sharing.

RecurPost helps you stay current by importing new posts from the industry RSS feeds and Google Alerts you connect. RecurPost gives you full control over each imported post before it enters your scheduling queue. In addition, you can edit any post through the three-dot menu, so nothing is scheduled exactly as imported unless you choose to keep it that way.

Try RecurPost

RecurPost brings RSS feed import and social media scheduling together in one tool, so content curation and publishing stay in the same workflow. As a result, RecurPost is a good fit for agencies and freelancers who curate blog, news, and industry content for multiple clients. However, RecurPost is less suitable for teams that want fully automated publishing without an approval step. In addition, RSS feeds are available as a paid add-on and are priced per feed on top of your existing plan.

Start with a free RecurPost account and connect your first RSS feed. Also, see the plans and pricing page for the per-feed add-on cost and the account limits available with each plan.
