Bluesky Scheduler
Schedule Bluesky posts for every client account
RecurPost is a social media scheduler that publishes to client Bluesky accounts through the AT Protocol. Text, images, video and link cards all go out at the scheduled minute, and mentions, hashtags and links arrive clickable rather than as dead text, because RecurPost builds the rich-text markers Bluesky needs. Clients connect with a revocable app password they generate themselves.

300 characters, counted in the composer
4 images per post, each with alt text
850+ platform errors handled
20 accounts for $79/mo
Every Bluesky format, published properly
Bluesky’s protocol is unusually literal: what you send is what appears. RecurPost sends the parts most schedulers leave out.
Text posts
Up to 300 characters, counted in the composer as you write. Mentions, hashtags and links are marked up so they publish as working links, not plain text a reader has to copy out.
Image posts
One to four images per post, each with its own alt text and correct aspect ratio. Bluesky caps upload size tightly, so RecurPost resizes every image under the cap before it goes, including link thumbnails.
Video posts
One video per post. Anything that is not MP4 is converted first, and the file is normalized to fit Bluesky’s size ceiling, so a client’s export does not bounce at upload.
Link cards
A link publishes as a real Bluesky card with the page’s title, description and thumbnail image uploaded alongside it, instead of a bare URL spending your characters.
Reply chains, quote posts and GIFs are Bluesky features its protocol does not open to schedulers yet. RecurPost publishes standalone posts, which is what a client calendar runs on.
From client invite to published post
You invite the client by email or link.
They paste their Bluesky handle and an app password they generate in Bluesky’s own settings, on your branded page. Their real account password never changes hands, and the app password can be revoked whenever they like.
Your team queues posts on the social media calendar, uploads a month by CSV with bulk scheduling, or takes the best-time suggestion, scored from the account’s own recent posts.
The client approves the queue from a shared calendar link, with no RecurPost login needed. Approvals come with every paid plan, from $9 per month.
The post goes to the AT Protocol at the scheduled minute, with images uploaded, alt text attached and rich-text markers computed so the post lands complete.
Lantern Row runs Fernwood Bindery’s Bluesky account: a Tuesday shop update tagging the maker, a photo set from the bench with alt text on every image, and a Friday link card to the new stock drop. Every mention and tag lands clickable, and the shop link keeps its preview image. That flow is part of how the RecurPost social media scheduler handles client work.

On Bluesky, a mention is only a link if the publisher makes it one
The AT Protocol does not scan your text for @handles, #tags or URLs. Unless the publishing tool computes the exact position of each one and sends it alongside the post, they all arrive as plain characters nobody can click. RecurPost computes them on every post it publishes, so a client’s tagged collaborator gets the notification and the link in the post actually opens.
- Mentions resolved to the real account behind the handle, so the tag notifies the right person
- Hashtags published as working tags that open Bluesky's feed for that tag
- Links published as clickable links, including bare domains typed without https
- Link cards carrying the page's title, description and thumbnail image
- Alt text on every image, written in the composer and sent with the post
- Every image resized under Bluesky's upload cap before it is sent, thumbnails included
Replying to mentions and DMs stays in Bluesky itself; RecurPost’s job here is publishing and reporting.

The numbers Bluesky actually publishes
RecurPost’s Bluesky report shows likes, replies, reposts and quotes per post, plus follower growth, engagement per post, and the posting patterns behind them. Quotes are counted separately from reposts, so you can show a client which posts people carried into their own timelines with something to add.
Follower gains and losses are tracked from the account’s own notifications, and top posts, content types and posting behaviour sit in the same report, refreshed on demand before a client call. Every report exports as a PDF under your own logo, so a client sees their agency’s name on the cover, not RecurPost’s.

When a Bluesky post fails, you get the cause and the fix
RecurPost recovers first and reports second.
Bluesky measures its 300-character limit in graphemes and rejects anything longer at the protocol level. RecurPost counts in the composer first, and translates the rejection into plain language if one ever slips through.
Bluesky caps each uploaded file under a megabyte, which quietly kills posts built from a designer’s full-size export. RecurPost resizes every image under the cap before upload, link thumbnails included.
A video that is not already MP4 is converted before it is sent, and normalized under Bluesky’s ceiling, so a client’s ProRes or MOV export does not fail at the upload step.
If a video upload does fail, RecurPost re-queues it once through a resize pass instead of dropping the post, and tells you that Bluesky may take a while to finish processing.
If an app password is revoked or stops working, the account is flagged for a one-click reconnect and the queue holds, so posts resume instead of silently failing while a client wonders where their update went. 11 Bluesky-specific rejections are translated inside RecurPost’s 850+ error catalog.
Fernwood’s Friday stock drop carries a photo straight from the camera. Bluesky would refuse the file at that size, so RecurPost resizes it under the cap before upload and the card publishes with its thumbnail intact.
Some schedulers drop failed posts silently, and the client notices before the agency does.

Bluesky's rules, handled before publish day
RecurPost’s composer counts Bluesky’s 300 characters as you write and previews mentions, hashtags and links exactly as they will publish. Every image is resized under Bluesky’s upload cap before it is sent, alt text rides along with each one, and a link card is built from the destination page rather than left as a raw URL.

Built for client work
- Agencies adding Bluesky to client rosters without giving it a second-class posting workflow
- Accounts where mentions, hashtags and links have to work, not just appear
- Clients whose posts lean on link cards to drive traffic off a 300-character limit
- Teams that need client reporting with quotes broken out from reposts, under their own logo
- Client accounts connected with a revocable app password instead of shared credentials
- Scheduling reply chains or quote posts; the protocol keeps both in the app for now
- Managing Bluesky replies and DMs from a unified inbox; conversations stay in Bluesky
- GIF posts; RecurPost publishes images and video to Bluesky

Bluesky scheduler FAQs
Does RecurPost publish to Bluesky automatically?
Yes. RecurPost publishes through the AT Protocol at the scheduled minute. Nobody gets a reminder to finish the post by hand, and the published post links straight back to the account’s timeline.
Will my mentions, hashtags and links be clickable?
Yes, and this is worth checking in any Bluesky tool. The protocol does not detect them on its own: the publisher has to send the position of each one alongside the post. RecurPost does that on every post, resolving each mention to the real account behind the handle.
How many images can a scheduled Bluesky post carry?
Up to four, each with its own alt text. Bluesky enforces a tight upload size, so RecurPost resizes every image under the cap first, which means a full-size export does not fail at upload.
Does RecurPost support Bluesky video?
Yes, one video per post. Files that are not already MP4 are converted, and the video is normalized to fit Bluesky’s size ceiling before it is sent.
Can a scheduled post show a link preview card?
Yes. RecurPost builds a proper Bluesky card with the destination page’s title, description and thumbnail image, so the post keeps its characters for your message instead of spending them on a raw URL.
How do clients connect their Bluesky accounts, and is it safe?
The client pastes their handle and an app password they generate in Bluesky’s own settings, on a connect page that can carry your agency’s branding. An app password is separate from their real account password, only allows what a posting tool needs, and they can revoke it at any moment.
Does RecurPost suggest the best time to post on Bluesky?
Yes, and it is scored from the account’s own recent posts, weighing quotes, reposts, replies and likes in the account’s own time zone. On a feed that runs newest first, that timing decides how many followers ever see the post.
Can I schedule reply chains or quote posts?
No. RecurPost schedules standalone Bluesky posts with their media and link cards. Reply chains, quote posts and GIFs stay in the Bluesky app for now.
