Import from Social

Import Existing Posts From Your Social Accounts

RecurPost imports the posts you have already published on your connected social accounts. You never have to rebuild a client’s content back catalog manually. Import from Social retrieves existing posts from a connected social account and adds them to the specific RecurPost library you select.

RecurPost then treats those posts like any other content that you can schedule and recycle. Agencies reach for it most during onboarding, particularly when a new client has an extensive archive of previously published posts.

What Import from Social moves into RecurPost

RecurPost’s Import from Social feature transfers your previously published posts from a connected social account into a selected RecurPost library. It imports the caption and associated media together, rather than adding only a link to the original post. RecurPost imports straight from the social network itself. This direct-from-network approach allows agencies to transition from another scheduler without requesting an export file from the previous platform.

Import from Social is separate from spreadsheet and feed-based imports. It is not used to upload new posts from a CSV. Instead, RecurPost handles CSV-based post creation and bulk scheduling through a separate workflow. It also differs from RSS feed imports that RecurPost uses to bring external blog and news content into a library.

For instance, consider an agency switching a restaurant client from another scheduler. The agency connects the client’s Facebook Page and Instagram account, and later imports the existing posts straight from those accounts. It never exports anything from the old tool.

RecurPost’s Import from Social fits any account that has published posts you want back in rotation. It does not fit brand-new content that lives in a spreadsheet or the content you pull from an external feed.

Accounts and networks

Which accounts and networks you can import from

RecurPost imports from the social accounts you have connected to your workspace. RecurPost supports per-network handling on import for seven networks:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • Pinterest
  • Google Business Profile
  • TikTok
  • YouTube

Each account has to be connected before you can import from it.

RecurPost connects a client account through a password-free invite: the client receives an email or link, authorizes their own account, and never shares login credentials. That lets you import a client’s existing posting history without handling their password. Adding a social profile via an invite link covers the full setup, and the pricing page lists the plans that include password-free client onboarding.

For example, a freelancer managing eight client accounts connects each account first, then imports each client’s existing posts network by network into a library named for that client.

RecurPost’s Import from Social fits any network the client has already connected. It does not fit a network the client has not linked yet. Connect the relevant social account to RecurPost first, then import its existing posts into the selected library.

Import filters

Choose what comes in: filter by app and media type

RecurPost allows you to filter the posts you want rather than importing the entire posting history. It filters imported posts by the social network they originated from and by media type, such as images or videos. You define the subset before the import begins, which lets you specify exactly which posts to bring into RecurPost.

RecurPost also lets you retrieve only your top-performing posts from a chosen period. You can import last year’s best posts, add them to a library, and place them back into circulation.

For example, a freelancer imports only last year’s top-performing image posts for a client. RecurPost filters out every video. It then sends the image posts straight into the client’s library, ready to be scheduled.

Most schedulers import the entire posting history or none of it. RecurPost’s app and media-type filters allow you to import a clean subset instead. This gives the client’s library a focused collection of posts that have already performed well.

How it works

The four-step import wizard

RecurPost runs Import from Social as a four-step wizard. Each step defines a specific aspect of the import. This gives you control over the destination, customization options, and target networks before the import is finalized:

Choose the destination library

RecurPost asks you to choose the destination library first. Search the library by name or scroll the list.

Customize posts in bulk

RecurPost then lets you customize every imported post in bulk. Add a prefix or suffix to each caption, set a first comment, and attach hashtags from a saved collection or a custom entry.

Set per-network options

RecurPost lets you set per-network options next, or import with no customization. Pick one or more networks and set the options for each.

Review and confirm

RecurPost shows a summary last. Review every setting, then confirm the import in one click.

RecurPost supports the first comment on import for Facebook Pages, LinkedIn, and Instagram Feed only. For other social networks, the first-comment field is not available during the import process.

For instance, an agency onboarding a new client imports three years of posts into a library named for that client. In the second step, the agency adds the client’s campaign hashtag set as a suffix across all imported captions. In the third step, the agency configures the relevant options for each social network. The agency then reviews the settings in the fourth step and confirms the import, bringing the entire back catalog into the library at once.

RecurPost’s bulk step fits large imports where the same treatment applies to many posts. It does not fit post-by-post edits. For individual changes, the editing process continues in the composer after the import is complete.

Per-network control

Per-network settings applied as you import

RecurPost applies platform-specific settings during the import process, rather than only during post creation. RecurPost configures per-network options on import for the same seven networks:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • Pinterest
  • Google Business Profile
  • TikTok
  • YouTube

RecurPost gives TikTok imports their own controls. RecurPost sets four options on an imported TikTok post:

  • Privacy level
  • Comments allowed or blocked
  • Duets and stitches enabled or disabled
  • Branded content disclosure

RecurPost holds those choices on the imported posts before any of them re-enter the schedule.

For instance, an agency importing a creator client’s TikTok back catalog sets privacy and turns off duets and stitches on the imported posts. RecurPost keeps those settings on every imported TikTok video.

RecurPost’s per-network settings are useful when clients require different configurations across social platforms. When the same settings apply to every network, the import can be completed without additional customization.

After the import

Where imported posts land and what happens next

RecurPost places every imported post into the library you chose, as reusable content. The posts do not publish the moment they import. They wait in the library until you schedule or recycle them through RecurPost’s Schedule and Recycle workflow.

RecurPost checks imported posts against more than 850 documented platform errors before they publish. Image size mismatches, incorrect video codecs, and false token expiry get flagged instead of failing silently in the queue.

For example, an agency, after import, schedules the client’s refilled library across the week. RecurPost’s error checks catch any post a network would reject, and the agency fixes it before it fails. Imported posts can also feed a recurring or seasonal library, which cycles evergreen posts back on a set schedule.

RecurPost’s Import from Social fits posts you plan to publish again. It does not fit a one-time archive copy, because RecurPost imports content for rescheduling rather than for storage.

How it fits

When to use Import from Social, and when to consider another approach

RecurPost gives you three separate import paths, and each fits a different purpose:

Import from Social

Fits posts you have already published on a connected account.

Bulk scheduling from a CSV

Fits brand-new posts you prepared in a spreadsheet.

Import from an RSS feed

Fits new items you want to auto-pull from an external feed or Google Alerts.

For example, one agency runs all three for a single client. The agency imports the client’s existing Instagram posts with Import from Social. It uploads the next quarter’s campaign from a spreadsheet through bulk scheduling. The client’s blog is then automatically queued through an RSS feed.

Each RecurPost import path is designed for a specific use case and is not interchangeable with the other two. Choosing the appropriate import path ensures that the content enters RecurPost through the workflow designed for it. Import from Social does not import content from spreadsheets or retrieve new items from external feeds.

Switching tools

Import as a way to de-risk a tool switch

RecurPost’s Import from Social also lowers the risk of switching schedulers or onboarding a client mid-campaign. Move the existing posts in first, then rebuild the schedule around them so the client’s feed remains active without publishing gaps.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Import from Social FAQs

Where does Import from Social pull my posts from?

RecurPost’s Import from Social pulls the posts you have already published on your connected social accounts. It reads them from the network itself, not from another tool’s export. The content is retrieved directly from its source. RecurPost brings in the caption and the media together.

RecurPost does not republish imported posts on import. RecurPost adds them to the library you choose as reusable content. They publish only when you schedule or recycle them.

RecurPost lets you import a subset instead of the full history. RecurPost filters imported posts by the sharing app and by media type, image or video. It lets you pick the subset before the import runs.

RecurPost lets you add hashtags and set a first comment in the second step of the import wizard. RecurPost supports the first comment on import for Facebook Pages, LinkedIn, and Instagram Feed. It also lets you add a prefix or suffix to every caption at the same step.

RecurPost supports per-network import settings for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, TikTok, and YouTube. TikTok imports carry privacy, comment, duet, stitch, and branded-content controls.

RecurPost keeps the three import paths separate. Import from Social brings in posts you already published on a connected account. Bulk scheduling brings in brand-new posts from a CSV. RSS import auto-pulls new items from an external feed.

Try RecurPost

RecurPost’s Agency plan covers 20 social accounts and includes 3 team members. RecurPost prices an extra teammate at a flat $20 per month on any plan instead of multiplying the plan price by every seat. Importing a full client roster’s back catalog does not raise your bill, because RecurPost counts connected social accounts, not seats.
