Seasonal Libraries

Seasonal Content Libraries For Social Media Campaigns

RecurPost seasonal libraries schedule holiday and event content within a specific date range and automatically pause it until the next season.

However, many agencies face the same challenge every year. They rebuild Diwali, Black Friday, and New Year posts from scratch for every client account.

Instead, a seasonal library removes that repetitive work. You create the campaign once, assign its specific date range, and RecurPost automatically publishes it again when the next season begins.

A Seasonal Library Publishes Inside a Set Date Window Then Sleeps

A RecurPost seasonal library publishes posts within the date range you set and then automatically pauses until the next season. For example, Christmas posts publish throughout December and stop automatically when January begins.

RecurPost offers three library types, and each one follows a different publishing pattern.

Library typeHow it postsWhen it stops
SeasonalPublishes between the start and end dates you setGoes dormant after the window, returns the next cycle
RecurringPosts on a set frequency in a continuous loopRuns until you delete it
One-time-usePosts each item onceThe item moves to the Expired Content library after it publishes

For example, an agency managing 12 retail clients during Black Friday can create one seasonal library for each client. Each library becomes active during the sale period, publishes the promotional posts, and then automatically pauses for the rest of the year. As a result, no one needs to remember to stop the campaign manually.

A seasonal library works best for date-based campaigns, such as holidays, sales, festivals, or annual awareness days. However, it is not suitable for evergreen content that should publish throughout the year. Instead, a recurring library keeps evergreen posts in continuous rotation. Similarly, it is not the right choice for a single scheduled announcement because that type of content belongs in a one-time-use library.

How it works

Set Up a Seasonal Library in Three Fields

You can create a RecurPost seasonal library by configuring three settings in the Add Library dialog. First, open Libraries from the sidebar and click Add Library.

Next, RecurPost asks you to configure three settings. You give the library a name so the campaign is easy to find, choose a color so it stands out on the calendar, and set the library type to Seasonal. After that, you add your posts and connect the social accounts where the campaign should publish.

Once the setup is complete, RecurPost runs the library within the date range you define as the seasonal window. It publishes posts during that period and automatically pauses the library for the rest of the year.

For example, a freelancer managing three restaurant clients can create a separate holiday library for each client and assign a different color to each one. One library can use red, another green, and the third blue. As a result, the calendar remains easy to read, even when multiple seasonal campaigns run during the same month.

Therefore, this setup works best for campaigns that you can plan in advance on a calendar. However, it is not suitable for reactive content because scheduling a single post manually is often the faster option.

Lifecycle

Seasonal Posts Go Quiet After the Window Then Come Back Next Cycle

A RecurPost seasonal library stays active only within its scheduled date range. After the end date, the library automatically pauses. When the same season returns, RecurPost reactivates the library for the next campaign cycle.

This active-and-pause pattern sets a seasonal library apart from the other two library types. For example, a one-time-use library expires after it publishes its posts, whereas a recurring library continues publishing without stopping. In contrast, a seasonal library remains active during its scheduled season and pauses for the rest of the year.

For example, you can schedule a Diwali greeting once, and RecurPost will keep it inactive throughout the year before publishing it again during the next Diwali season. As a result, your client receives a consistent annual greeting without requiring you to recreate or reschedule the campaign.

Therefore, this lifecycle works best for content that follows the same calendar period each year. However, it is not suitable for evergreen content, such as product education or ongoing social media tips, because that type of content should continue publishing throughout the year.

Customization

Customize Each Seasonal Campaign Per Client and Platform

RecurPost lets you customize a seasonal library per client and per network without rebuilding the campaign.

For example, RecurPost lets you edit the entire library at once. You can update the caption, change the call to action, and refresh the hashtags across every post in a single update. As a result, the changes apply to the entire library instead of requiring you to edit each post individually.

RecurPost adapts one seasonal message to the publishing requirements of each platform. You can add a Google Business Profile call-to-action button, such as Book or Order Online, tag a location and collaborators on an Instagram Reel, and control who can comment, duet, or stitch a TikTok post. Consequently, the Christmas post keeps its theme while each network receives content in its preferred format.

In addition, RecurPost lets you add or remove social accounts from a seasonal library without editing the existing posts again. For example, if a client adds a new Instagram account before the holiday season, you can connect it to the seasonal library, and the existing posts will also publish to that account.

An agency can use one Christmas library across a client’s Facebook Page, Instagram account, and Google Business Profile. The campaign remains consistent, while the Google Business Profile post includes an Order Online button, the Instagram Reel tags the store location, and Facebook publishes the standard feed post.

Therefore, this approach works best when the same seasonal campaign needs social network-specific variations. However, it provides little benefit for a campaign that publishes to only one social network without requiring different formats.

Run Seasonal Libraries Across Every Client Account

RecurPost runs separate seasonal libraries for each client from a single login. As a result, you can keep one holiday library for every client, with each library using its own color and connected social accounts.

For example, an agency managing 20 client accounts can prepare a full year of seasonal campaigns during the fourth quarter. Then, it can assign one seasonal library to each client and let every library publish automatically within its scheduled date range.

RecurPost’s Agency plan supports up to 20 social accounts without charging per team member. Therefore, RecurPost does not increase your cost based on the number of people managing those accounts. Running 20 seasonal libraries across 20 client accounts costs the same whether one manager or five managers create and manage them.

Therefore, this setup works best for agencies with multiple clients that follow recurring seasonal campaigns. However, it is less suitable for a single social account with no seasonal publishing schedule because the additional setup provides little ongoing value.

Choosing a library

When a Seasonal Library Fits And When It Doesn't

A RecurPost seasonal library is the right choice for date-based campaigns that repeat each year. However, it is important to choose the library type that matches your publishing schedule.

Your contentBest library type
A holiday, sale, or festival campaign tied to set datesSeasonal library
Always-on evergreen posts that run year-roundRecurring library
A single dated post you will not repeatOne-time-use library

Skip a seasonal library when the campaign has no fixed schedule. For example, reactive posts, breaking news, and ad hoc client requests are usually faster to schedule manually. Similarly, a seasonal library is not suitable for content that should publish continuously because a recurring library keeps evergreen posts in an ongoing rotation.

For example, a social media manager organizing one client’s content can place Black Friday promotions in a seasonal library, evergreen brand tips in a recurring library, and a one-time store reopening announcement in a one-time-use library. As a result, each campaign follows the publishing pattern that best matches its purpose.

In addition, RecurPost groups seasonal libraries alongside 8 other scheduling capabilities inside its scheduler, such as the content calendar, bulk upload, and RSS import. Consequently, they all use the same post composer and the same platform-specific publishing controls.

Frequently asked questions

What is a seasonal library in RecurPost?

A RecurPost seasonal library is a content library that publishes posts within the date range you set and then automatically pauses until the next season. Therefore, you can use it for holiday, sale, and festival campaigns that repeat during the same period each year.

A seasonal library and a recurring library follow different publishing patterns. A seasonal library publishes posts only within its scheduled date range and then automatically pauses for the rest of the year. In contrast, a recurring library publishes posts at a set frequency in a continuous loop until you delete the library.

A RecurPost seasonal library automatically pauses after its end date. As a result, the posts stop publishing while the library remains unchanged. When the next season begins, RecurPost reactivates the same campaign, so you do not need to rebuild or schedule it again.

RecurPost lets you customize seasonal posts per platform from the same library. For example, you can add a Google Business Profile call-to-action button, tag a location on an Instagram Reel, and control comments, duets, or stitches on TikTok. Meanwhile, the core seasonal message remains consistent across every platform.

RecurPost’s Agency plan supports up to 20 social accounts, and each account can run its own seasonal libraries without any per-seat charges. As a result, an agency can maintain a separate color-coded holiday library for each client and manage them all from a single login.
