RecurPost Bitly Integration

How to Shorten and Track Your Brand Links?

The RecurPost Bitly integration is a useful feature for shortening, tracking, and branding links in a social network post from a single dashboard. Create and connect your Bitly account to the RecurPost composer to fix long URLs from one screen. Agencies and freelancers who manage many client social accounts often create brand links and shorten them to track clicks for posted content.

The basics

What Does RecurPost’s Bitly Integration Do Inside the Composer?

RecurPost’s Bitly integration shortens long links/URLs within a scheduled post from the composer through a connected Bitly account. RecurPost is an advanced social media management software that automatically shortens recurring library posts. For one-off posts, you shorten the link yourself in the composer while creating the post, using that same connected account.

For instance, your agency manages 12 client brands with 40 recurring library posts. Every post includes an outbound link redirecting audiences to a blog or a landing page. RecurPost shortens each link as the posts go out on a repeat cadence. Your team does not have to manually paste a URL from another screen or tool into the caption.

Public Bitly links can also be added directly to the RecurPost composer. The social media scheduler shortens links inside the scheduling workflow for all your connected client profiles at one go. You do not have to shorten 1 link at a time, especially in a separate browser tab.

How it works

Connect Your Account Step-by-Step

RecurPost uses the Plugins tab to connect to Bitly. The setup is a simple 6-step process. RecurPost primarily needs a Bitly account to connect. Therefore, keep your Bitly credentials handy to start. The process is as follows:

Open the Plugins tab

Open the Plugins tab in RecurPost.

Find the URL Shortener

Find the URL Shortener option.

Attach new profiles

Click to select “+ Attach new profiles”.

Choose Bitly

Choose Bitly as your default link shortener and tracker.

Link your Bitly account

Link the Bitly account when RecurPost asks to connect.

Select social accounts

Select the connected social accounts where you want to apply the shortener.

RecurPost finishes the setup once you select the social accounts. If you are a freelancer managing 5 clients, link one Bitly account first. Use the above-mentioned (same) method to connect the rest of the accounts. If you do not have a Bitly account, you have to shorten links by hand or skip the plug-in option altogether.

Branding

Add Your Brand to Every Short Link

RecurPost allows you to change the bit.ly prefix for your client’s branded domain through Bitly. The branded link includes a recognizable domain for the target audience instead of the generic shortener URL.

When your agency manages 12 brands, give each of them its own short custom domains. This allows every client to maintain a consistent and recognizable link identity. For example, a restaurant chain client uses their own name on the link address while a law firm client uses its own. Branded links are suitable for brand-conscious clients but are less helpful for internal links (example: blog), which followers hardly click.

Security

Secure Every Short Link with HTTPS

RecurPost secures your custom shortened link with HTTPS. This encryption protects your links from third-party interference when it reaches the readers.

For example, a finance or healthcare client needs their shared links to be encrypted. Thus, RecurPost fulfills this requirement with default HTTPS and no extra setup.

Analytics

Track Clicks on Every Link for Meaningful Insights

Gain real-time click data insights for every shortened link with RecurPost’s Bitly integration feature. The selected social accounts connected to your Bitly on RecurPost allow you to track post clicks. This integration enables you to monitor post clicks and evaluate which posts generate traffic and which require improvement from a single dashboard.

For example, in your agency’s monthly client report, include only the top-clicked links per brand. To ensure a clean presentation, you should exclude and avoid posts that did not get any clicks. To simplify this process, RecurPost prepares the click count analytics, along with other reports, in a single unified dashboard screen. Furthermore, you can leverage the “Chat with Reports AI” feature inside the reports tab. Use it to custom-design an overall report that includes the link performance along with other metrics.

How it fits

When the Feature Fits and When it Doesn’t

RecurPost’s Bitly integration is the ideal fit for agencies and freelancers who need to include outbound links in most of their posts. The best option is to use the link to promote campaigns and conversions. For example:

When the feature fits

When you include the link to blogs, landing pages, or offers

When you manage brands that desire their own custom short domain names in the link address

When you report link click data to clients every month

When you have to shorten more than 1 post link from 1 tool at once

When it doesn’t fit

You rarely post links inside posts from any social accounts

You do not track link clicks

Your team does not have a Bitly account

Note: Without a connected Bitly account, RecurPost cannot shorten links at all — not automatically on recurring library posts, and not by hand on a one-off post — so every link goes out at full length.
