Tailwind alternatives split by the gap that pushes a buyer off a Pinterest-first product. The groups below match each Tailwind gap to the tools that close it, starting with the networks Tailwind never covered. Each group also says where RecurPost fits and where it does not.

Every tool in that table misses somewhere. Tailwind alternatives are social media management platforms that replace some mix of Tailwind’s Pinterest scheduling, cross-network publishing, client review, and analytics workflows. See the alternatives and competitors at a glance for what each one covers.

Why Buyers Leave Tailwind

Tailwind ships Communities, Pinterest search-volume data, and interval pinning, and no other tool on this page ships all three. Tailwind then narrowed the whole company around that toolset. Five gaps drive most departures.

  1. Tailwind repositioned around Pinterest. Tailwind’s pricing page sells Pin Scheduling & Creation at $29.99 per month ($17.99 on annual billing), Pinterest SEO at $14.99 ($11.99 annual), and Pinterest Engagement at $14.99 ($11.99 annual), with a bundle at $29.98 per month on annual billing. Tailwind still publishes to Instagram Business and Facebook Pages, though neither network appeared in its homepage messaging or its per-account pricing as of July 2026.
  2. Tailwind never covered the networks a mixed client roster needs, including X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Google Business Profile, Threads, and Bluesky. A local-business client needs Google Business Profile posts on day one. A B2B client needs LinkedIn. Tailwind serves neither at any price.
  3. Tailwind prices every plan per Pinterest account, in its own words: “All plans are per Pinterest account.” A second Pinterest account doubles the bill. Tailwind’s full three-product stack costs $59.97 per month on monthly billing, and Ghostwriter AI credits meter on top at 300 per month with Pin Scheduling, with refills at $10 per 100 credits.
  4. Tailwind ships no client workflow. Our June 2026 audit found no approval queue, no review-before-publish link, no client workspaces, and no white-label reports. An agency running client content through Tailwind reviews everything over email and screenshots.
  5. Tailwind reports on Pinterest only, with no PDF or CSV export. Tailwind also ships no mobile app, no social inbox, no RSS import, and no text-only posts. Connected Instagram and Facebook accounts get little reporting.

A blogger whose traffic lives on Pinterest has a different answer. Tailwind Communities, the Pinterest keyword tool with real search-volume data, and the Create design studio have no equal on this page. The staying-on-Tailwind section below covers that case.

What a Tailwind Replacement Has to Cover

Tailwind’s pricing unit hides the real comparison. One Tailwind subscription covers one Pinterest account, with Instagram and Facebook scheduling riding along as companions. Most alternatives price per social account, per channel, per brand, or per user seat, so count your profiles first: every Pinterest account, every Instagram account, every Facebook Page, plus everything Tailwind never touched.

Run six checks against that roster:

  1. Test Pinterest publishing quality first. Many general schedulers treat Pinterest as an afterthought, so confirm the replacement handles board selection, Pin titles, and destination links rather than plain image posts.
  2. Confirm the networks Tailwind never covered, especially X, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, and TikTok. Some alternatives gate X behind add-ons, and HeyOrca dropped direct X publishing in April 2026.
  3. Find the plan tier where client approvals start. Tailwind has none at any tier, so any paid approval tier is an upgrade. The entry point ranges from Buffer’s Team plan at $12 per channel to Metricool’s $67 Advanced tier and RecurPost’s $79 Agency plan.
  4. Separate who drafts, who reviews internally, and who publishes. RecurPost includes team roles, permissions, and the Kanban board on every plan from $9, which is a cheaper entry than the approval tiers above.
  5. Price the loaded cost, meaning the base plan plus every add-on your roster forces. Vista Social’s $79 plan becomes $108 once X publishing joins.
  6. Map what leaves with you. Smart.bio pages, Communities memberships, and Ghostwriter credits are Tailwind property, so anything built on them needs rebuilding elsewhere.

The coverage table below settles the first four checks for the tools this page names most often.

RecurPost’s directory of social media scheduling alternatives runs these checks across 40+ tools. The five groups below run them for the Tailwind case only.

Tailwind Alternatives by Switching Trigger

Your Roster Outgrew Three Networks

Closest fitRecurPost, or Vista Social when listening is on the list
RecurPost fits whenX and Google Business Profile need to join the same calendar at a flat per-account price
Vista Social fits whenListening or review management justifies a $108 loaded monthly cost
Stay on Tailwind whenPinterest is still 90 percent of your output

RecurPost publishes to ten networks on every paid plan:

  • Facebook Pages, Facebook Groups, and Facebook personal profiles through mobile push
  • Instagram
  • X
  • LinkedIn, including PDF document posts
  • Pinterest
  • Google Business Profile, with CTA buttons
  • YouTube, including Shorts
  • TikTok
  • Threads
  • Bluesky

RecurPost’s Pinterest publishing keeps boards, Pin titles, and destination links, so the core Tailwind workflow survives the move. RecurPost’s X Wallet, funded by the account from $10.80, pays X’s $0.20 per-link posting fee, so agencies keep posting link content without setting up API billing for each client. RecurPost also imports content from RSS feeds and Google Alerts, two things Tailwind never offered.

Vista Social covers a similar network spread inside a bigger product. Vista Social’s Professional plan runs $79 per month for 15 profiles and 2 users, X publishing costs $29 per month on top, and social listening costs $75 per month. Buffer covers the same missing networks a la carte at $6 per channel per month and gets its own group below.

You Need Client Approvals Without a Login and Team Roles Per Client

Closest fitRecurPost for staged approvals with deadlines that act, HeyOrca for review rounds on a paid client workspace
RecurPost fits whenClient sign-off has to happen inside the tool, a missed deadline must not stall the calendar, and each person needs different access per client
HeyOrca still fits whenNo client posts to X and the client review committee is the whole job
Sendible fits whenPassword-free client onboarding decides the switch and the roster can start on Plus at $99
RecurPost does not fit whenThe client relationship rests on a branded portal on your own domain, or Pinterest depth outweighs the review process

Tailwind offers no approval workflow at all, so this trigger forces a switch rather than an upgrade. The tools below each add a review step, and each one acts differently once a reviewer goes quiet.

RecurPost runs staged approvals on a Kanban board, with work, internal review, and client review stages and roles assigned per workspace, so one person can hold a different role for each client. RecurPost’s stage deadlines act on their own: when a stage timeout passes, RecurPost holds the post, approves it automatically, escalates it, or reschedules it. The client opens RecurPost’s shareable calendar without logging in, then approves each pin or requests changes with one button.

RecurPost onboards clients without passwords. The client receives an email or link invite, connects their own accounts, and never shares credentials. RecurPost includes team roles, permissions, and the Kanban board on every plan, starting with the $9 Starter plan. RecurPost includes the internal and external approval workflow plus a separate workspace per client on the Agency plan at $79 per month. Compare RecurPost pricing against your own client count before picking a tier.

HeyOrca builds its product around the client review round, and it prices that experience per client workspace at $59 or $149 per month. HeyOrca moves a post through Draft, Awaiting approval, Approved, and Revise, and HeyOrca can require several named people to approve one post. HeyOrca reminds approvers 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days before a post’s publish time, and HeyOrca takes no action on its own once an approval sits overdue. HeyOrca dropped direct X publishing in April 2026, which rules it out for any roster with X clients.

Vista Social routes multi-step approvals in a set order, and a Vista Social contributor’s posts always need approval. Vista Social team members and clients can approve without logging in, the same way RecurPost’s clients approve on the shareable calendar. Vista Social keeps a Kanban Board view inside its Vista Work projects, and Vista Social reaches SLA reminders and escalation through the third-party ApproveThis integration rather than natively.

Metricool ships preset roles for Manager, Editor, Content Creator, Analyst, and Client, plus custom roles, and Metricool’s Client role approves or rejects posts. Metricool adds approvals at its $67 Advanced tier. Buffer holds approvals on its Team plan at $12 per channel per month. Sendible matches RecurPost’s password-free client onboarding through Client Connect from its $99 Plus plan, and Sendible’s per-plan value thins out toward 20 or more accounts.

You Want Simple and Cheap Without Credit Meters

Closest fitBuffer for simplicity, Publer for bulk volume on a budget
Buffer fits whenA setup stays under roughly 10 channels with no client sign-off step
Publer fits whenBulk volume matters more than simplicity
RecurPost fits whenA failed pin or a missing client approval starts costing real posts

Buffer replaces a small Tailwind setup for nothing. Buffer’s free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel, which alone replaces a basic Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook setup at $0. Buffer Essentials costs $6 per channel per month on monthly billing ($5 annual) with unlimited scheduling and no metered AI credits. Buffer publishes to X, Google Business Profile, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon on top of the big networks.

Buffer’s simplicity has hard edges. Buffer requires account credentials at connection, and Buffer surfaces no error when a post fails. Buffer’s Pinterest support also stays basic next to Tailwind’s board-level tooling. RecurPost handles 850+ documented platform error types, so a rejected pin surfaces with a reason instead of disappearing quietly.

Publer plays the same budget role at a $5 base plus $4 per extra account, with bulk tools included and no inbox, listening, or DM automation. Publer sets roles for Admin, Editor, and Client, and Publer picks the approval requirement per member. Publer suits buyers who want cheap plus volume rather than cheap plus simple.

You Want Analytics Past Pinterest

Closest fitMetricool
Metricool fits whenCross-network reports, web analytics, and ads management matter more than Pinterest-only insights
RecurPost fits whenClients want white-label PDF reports across 10 platforms
RecurPost does not fit whenCompetitor benchmarking sits on the report list

Metricool reports across every network it publishes to, plus your own website and three ad platforms. Tailwind’s Pinterest-only reports leave the rest of a mixed roster unmeasured. Metricool’s free plan covers 1 brand with up to 20 posts per month, without X or LinkedIn publishing. Metricool’s Starter plan covers 5 brands at $25 per month, or 10 brands at $45, with cross-network reports, web analytics tie-ins, competitor benchmarking, and ads management in the same dashboard. Google Business Profile works on every Metricool tier, and Metricool sells X publishing as a paid add-on.

RecurPost’s Custom Reports builder assembles 200+ metrics across 10 platforms with drag-and-drop editing. RecurPost ships 58 report templates and 11 chart types. RecurPost’s reports carry audience demographics, including Instagram and Facebook age, gender, and location, plus LinkedIn industry, seniority, and function. RecurPost also reports Meta ads metrics and Google Business reviews.

RecurPost delivers each finished report as a white-label PDF, downloaded or emailed to up to 25 recipients, and RecurPost’s Chat with Reports AI answers questions about the numbers. RecurPost includes white-label reports on the Agency plan at $79 per month. RecurPost offers no competitor benchmarking, so a benchmarking-led buyer fits Metricool better.

You Are Instagram-First and Tailwind Moved On

Closest fitPlanoly or Later
Planoly fits whenA solo creator treats grid planning as the core workflow
Later fits whenA small roster needs visual planning across 8 to 16 profiles
RecurPost fits whenThe visual roster also needs X or Google Business Profile in the same calendar
Neither Planoly nor Later fits whenX or Google Business Profile need to be first-class networks

Planoly is built for the solo Instagram-first creator. Planoly starts at $16 per month for one social set, meaning one account per platform, with grid planning as the core of the product rather than a side view. Planoly’s higher tiers cost $28 and $55. Planoly posts to X by reminder only and skips Google Business Profile entirely.

Later plays the multi-profile version of the same role. Later’s Starter plan covers 8 profiles for $25 per month with a 30-posts-per-profile monthly cap, and Later’s Growth plan covers 16 profiles at $50 with approvals starting there. Later removed X publishing in August 2025 and has never covered Google Business Profile, so Later fixes the visual-planning trigger without fixing the network trigger. A mixed roster that needs X or Google Business Profile belongs back in the first group.

Where RecurPost Fits a Tailwind Buyer, and Where It Does Not

RecurPost fits the buyer whose account list outgrew what Tailwind sells. RecurPost keeps Pinterest publishing with boards, titles, and destination links, and brings X, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, and Bluesky into the same calendar. Clients connect their own accounts through a password-free email or link invite. RecurPost runs approvals as internal review and client review stages inside a separate workspace per client on the Agency plan, and RecurPost prices per social account with no per-seat inflation. Bulk CSV upload, RSS import, and recurring content libraries come along as extras Tailwind never had.

RecurPost does not fit a Tailwind buyer who depends on any of these:

  • RecurPost’s Pinterest depth sits well below Tailwind’s. RecurPost has no Communities equivalent, no interval pinning, no Pinterest-tuned posting-time engine, and no Pinterest keyword research with search-volume data.
  • RecurPost has no design studio at Tailwind Create’s level. RecurPost ships a built-in image editor with per-platform crop presets plus a Canva integration, and Create still produces finished multi-format designs faster.
  • RecurPost has no email marketing, no link-in-bio product, and no Snapchat publishing, so a Smart.bio page loses its home.
  • RecurPost has no social listening and no sentiment analysis.
  • RecurPost offers no competitor benchmarking. Metricool keeps that on its own tiers.
  • RecurPost’s interface is utilitarian. It handles large client rosters fine and wins no design awards doing it.
  • RecurPost charges $20 per month for each team member past the 3 included on Agency, so a large internal team pays per member.
  • RecurPost publishes X posts over 280 characters only when the client holds their own X Premium subscription.

Buyers who switched anyway did it for network coverage and client workflow. The RecurPost case studies show which rosters made that trade and why.

The Pricing Math, Both Ways

Want the numbers for your own roster? The social media tool pricing calculator prices 36 schedulers, RecurPost among them, for your profiles, seats, clients and must-have features, with the arithmetic shown.

Tailwind’s sticker price looks small until the per-account rule and the add-on products stack up. It looks like a bargain again the moment you value the Pinterest tooling. The table holds monthly billing throughout.

ToolBase plan (monthly billing)What’s includedWhat changes the real cost
Tailwind Pin Scheduling & Creation$29.991 Pinterest account, 300 monthly creditsFull three-product stack $59.97/mo (or $29.98/mo bundled annual); every plan priced per Pinterest account; credit refills $10 per 100

RecurPost bills per social account rather than per user seat, and RecurPost’s yearly billing gives two months free. Annual billing lowers most of the other prices here by roughly 17 to 40 percent. Run your own roster in both directions.

A Pinterest-led blogger with one Pinterest account gets more from Tailwind’s $29.98 annual bundle than from RecurPost at $9. RecurPost would schedule the pins and replace none of the keyword research, none of Communities, and none of Create. Tailwind costs $20.98 more per month and covers the Pinterest work RecurPost does not.

A solo operator scheduling three accounts pays Buffer nothing. Buffer’s free plan covers 3 channels, where RecurPost needs Starter at $9 plus a $4 add-on account for the same three. Buffer costs $13 a month less for that setup.

A shop running two Pinterest accounts pays Tailwind twice, $35.98 per month for scheduling alone on annual billing. RecurPost Starter covers both accounts for $9 and adds eight more networks. RecurPost costs about $27 a month less, and the shop gives up SmartSchedule and interval pinning to take it.

A six-client agency with 20 accounts spanning X, LinkedIn, and Google Business Profile cannot run on Tailwind at any price. RecurPost Agency covers that roster at $79 flat with 3 team members. Vista Social reaches 15 profiles for $108 loaded with X, and Buffer Team costs $240 at 20 channels, which is why Buffer stays in the solo group.

When Staying on Tailwind Is the Right Call

Tailwind keeps four things nobody on this page replaces:

  1. Tailwind Communities distributes your pins through groups of Pinners in your niche.
  2. Tailwind’s Pinterest SEO tool shows real Pinterest search volume and an interest graph for any keyword.
  3. Tailwind Create turns raw images into finished Pin designs in bulk.
  4. Tailwind has been a Pinterest developer partner since 2012, which shows in details like interval pinning and SmartSchedule that general schedulers skip.

A creator or shop whose traffic genuinely comes from Pinterest fits Tailwind. No alternative on this page matches that toolset, RecurPost included. Two or three stray accounts on other networks do not force a migration either, because Buffer’s free plan carries them alongside Tailwind for $0.

Moving Off Tailwind

Tailwind exports no reports and no scheduled-post files, so the content rebuild starts before you cancel. A move from Tailwind to RecurPost takes five steps:

  1. Copy captions and download media from your Tailwind drafts and queue before your last billing date.
  2. Rebuild any Smart.bio page on another link-in-bio service, since that page lives on Tailwind’s domain.
  3. Invite each client to connect their accounts to RecurPost through a password-free link instead of collecting passwords.
  4. Import the last 6 months of posted content from each connected social account, which gives RecurPost a working content library without CSV formatting.
  5. Budget one session to reconnect accounts and re-slot the posting schedule.

The RecurPost account owner then sets the workflow up once for the whole account, before the team and the clients are invited. An agency replacing an email-and-screenshots review loop ends that first session with a client review board running.

Tailwind Alternatives FAQs

Which Tailwind alternative fits an agency?

No single Tailwind alternative fits every agency, so match the tool to the gap that is moving you. RecurPost fits an agency whose clients need X, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, and TikTok in the same calendar as Pinterest, and whose clients approve posts without logging in. HeyOrca fits an agency whose whole job is review rounds on a paid client workspace, as long as no client posts to X. Metricool suits an agency deciding on cross-network reporting, competitor benchmarking, and ads management. Vista Social works for an agency that wants listening in the same bundle and accepts a $108 loaded cost once X publishing joins. Sendible matches an agency that picks its tool on password-free client onboarding and can start on Client Connect at $99. An agency whose traffic still comes from Pinterest growth stays on Tailwind, because no tool on this page replaces Communities or Tailwind’s Pinterest keyword data.

Does Tailwind still schedule Instagram and Facebook posts?

Tailwind still schedules to Instagram Business and Facebook Pages on top of Pinterest. As of July 2026, Tailwind’s homepage messaging and its per-Pinterest-account pricing center entirely on Pinterest, and all three current products (Pin Scheduling & Creation, Pinterest SEO, Pinterest Engagement) are Pinterest tools. Buyers who need Instagram and Facebook as first-class networks should treat Tailwind as a Pinterest-first product.

How much does Tailwind cost in 2026?

Tailwind sells Pin Scheduling & Creation at $29.99 per month ($17.99 annual), Pinterest SEO at $14.99 ($11.99 annual), and Pinterest Engagement at $14.99 ($11.99 annual), plus a three-product bundle at $29.98 per month on annual billing. Every Tailwind plan covers one Pinterest account, a free plan exists, and Tailwind’s AI credits refill at $10 per 100 once the monthly allotment runs out.

Which Tailwind alternatives publish to X (Twitter)?

RecurPost, Buffer, and Publer publish to X on standard paid plans, and RecurPost’s X Wallet, funded by the account from $10.80, pays X’s $0.20 per-link posting fee. Vista Social adds X for $29 per month, and Metricool sells X as a paid add-on. Tailwind has never published to X, Later removed it in August 2025, and HeyOrca dropped direct X publishing in April 2026.

Is there a free Tailwind alternative?

Buffer’s free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel, including Pinterest. Metricool’s free plan manages 1 brand with up to 20 posts per month, without X or LinkedIn publishing. Tailwind’s own free plan remains an option for staying put at low volume. Each free tier fits a single-brand test rather than a client roster, and none of them carries a client approval step.

What is the cheapest way to keep Pinterest plus other networks?

RecurPost Starter covers 2 social accounts across all 10 networks for $9 per month, with extra accounts at $4. Buffer covers 3 channels free, then charges $6 per channel. Publer starts at a $5 base plus $4 per extra account. Tailwind’s cheapest paid Pinterest scheduling costs $17.99 per month on annual billing, for one Pinterest account.

Does any Tailwind alternative match Tailwind Communities?

No tool on this page replicates Communities, Tailwind’s group-distribution network for Pinners, and none matches its Pinterest keyword tool with search-volume data. A buyer who relies on either fits Tailwind. RecurPost, Buffer, Metricool, and Vista Social all schedule pins without any community-distribution layer.

What does replacing Tailwind cost at 20 social accounts?

RecurPost’s Agency plan covers 20 social accounts for $79 per month with 3 team members included. Vista Social reaches 15 profiles at $79 plus $29 for X publishing. Buffer Team costs $240 at 20 channels, and Metricool covers 10 brands at $45 with X extra. Tailwind cannot reach 20 mixed-network accounts at any price, since every Tailwind plan covers one Pinterest account.

Which Tailwind alternatives for Pinterest let clients approve pins without logging in?

RecurPost and Vista Social let a client approve a pin without logging in, and both publish to Pinterest. A RecurPost client opens the shareable calendar from a password-free email or link invite, then approves each pin or requests changes with one button. RecurPost also lets the workspace Account Manager approve on the client’s behalf, and RecurPost logs every one of those approvals. Vista Social team members and clients also approve without logging in. Tailwind ran no review step at all in our June 2026 audit, so a Pinterest-led roster reviews pins over email and screenshots today.
